Boxing Ant
This insects is known under the common name: Boxing Ant or Boxer Ant. When under threat it will stand on its hind legs and put up its little fists and actually box just like a human boxer would. It's quite impressive watching this little insect fend you off with its little front legs.
On the photo above it his having a good old scratch on the head. These insects are real characters. They seem to have no fear of humans and are even happy for you to gently pick them up. This boxing ant was placed on a green bucket for photographing purposes... more
