Frequency |
|
Frequency is how we explain how often a process repeats it self. Frequency is used to describe the motion of waves and states how often a complete cycle of the wave motion goes through in a given time. The unit of frequency is measured in Hertz which was named after a guy called Heinrich Hertz who was the first person to broadcast and receive radio signals. In 1883 he began working on electromagnetic radiation. By using a rapidly oscillating electric spark he produced radio waves and was able to measure their velocity and their wavelength. This experiment confirmed the theory developed by James Clerk Maxwell. 1 Hertz abbreviated 1 Hz is equal to one wave cycle a second. Light, sound, radio waves, AC electrical power all have a set operating frequency.
