Jasper is a variety of flint. It is commonly red but it may be brown, yellow or sometimes green. It is a mineral which is sometimes polished and used in buildings to enhance its beauty. Chemically, jasper is an impure form of silica. It is mainly mined in Greece, Poland, Turkey, India, Russia and US.
