The Republic of Djibouti is
a small country on the east coast of Africa. Djibouti faces the Strait of Bab el
Mandeb between the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden. Djibouti is bordered by
Ethiopia, Somalia and Eritrea. It covers an area of 23,050
square kilometres (8,900 square miles). The Gulf of Tadjoura coastline runs some
800 kilometres (500 miles) from north to south.
