country in north-western Africa and covers an area of 1,240,192 square
kilometres (478,841 square miles). It is bordered by Senegal, Mauritania, Algeria,
Niger, Burkina Faso, Cote d'Ivoire and Guinea. The legendary city of Timbuktu
is in Mali. You will find the Futa Jallon mountains in the west while the
rivers Niger and the Senegal can be found in the central and south-western
parts.
