Sudan covers 2,503,890 square
kilometres (966,757 square
miles). The country is located in the north-eastern
part of the continent, bordering Egypt, Libya, Chad, the Central African
Republic, Zaire, Uganda, Kenya, and Ethiopia. Sudan's only seacoast stretches
along the Red Sea.

vast sand plain, the Qoz, which stretches from the White Nile to the Chad
border. The Nile Valley which includes Khartoum, the capital, located at the
junction of the Blue Nile and the White Nile. The Red Sea Hills are also
fascinating as well as an extinct volcano called Jebel Marra. The Nuba
Mountains in central Sudan and the country's highest peak, Kinyeti 10,456 feet or 3,187
metres, is located in the south. Big-game animals can be found
in the southern regions like the lion, leopard, crocodile, elephant, antelope
and gazelle.
