The Republic of Zimbabwe is bounded on
the north by the Zambezi River and Zambia. On the south by the Limpopo River
and South Africa. The Inyanga Mountains, Zimbabwe's highest, form the eastern
boundary with Mozambique. To the west lies Botswana. The total area is about
390,759 square kilometres (150,873 square miles). The capital was formerly
known as Salisbury. Tourist attractions include the Victoria Falls, where the
Zambezi River plunges down. Hwange National Park is an elephant sanctuary and
Lake Kariba is used for fishing and wildlife observations like the
hippopotamus and elephant. English is the official language but Bantu
languages are wide spread.
