Kyrgyzstan was from 1924 until the end of 1991 the Kirgiz Soviet Socialist Republic, or Kirgizia, of the Soviet Union. It is bordered by Kazakhstan, China, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. It covers and area of 198,400 square kilometres (76,600 square miles). An interesting place for those who relish culture and history.
