Moldova was once known
as Moldavia, or the Moldavian Soviet Socialist Republic and covers an area
of approximately 33,700 square kilometres (13,000 square miles). It is
bordered by the Ukraine and Romania.
Sights of interest are
Mount Balaneshty in the west which is also the highest point, the steppe
region in the south with the Dnestr and Prut rivers and forests that
contain wildlife such as wolves, foxes, wild boars, wildcats, weasels,
badgers, and deer. Cities worth exploring are of course the capital city
Kishinev, delightful Tiraspol', Bel'tsy, and Bendery.
