Because Romania was once part of the Roman Empire, it has a rich history. It is bordered by Ukraine, Moldova, Hungary, Yugoslavia, Bulgaria, and the Black Sea. Moldoveanul is the highest peak and the main ranges are the Eastern and Southern Carpathians.
