French Polynesia (formerly
French Settlements in Oceania), is an overseas territory of the French Community
and lies in the south Pacific Ocean. It composes of Marquesas Islands, Tuamotu
Archipelago, Gambier Islands, Society Islands (including Tahiti), and Tubuai
Islands. Its total area is approximately 4,000 sq km (1,544 sq miles). The
delightful capital city is Papeete, located on Tahiti.
