The enchanting Marshall Islands comprises two parallel chains of coral atolls 1,300 kilometres (800 miles) long. The delightful, tropical islands and islets number more than 1,200 and are indeed a treasure that needs to be preserved. The islands are coral caps set on dome volcanoes which rise from the ocean floor.
